Warlander bietet ein neues Genre des kompetitiven Spiels, eine Mischung aus Hack-and-Slash, Shooter und Strategie mit bis zu 100 Spielern, die in fünf Armeen aufgeteilt sind und das Ziel haben, die Burgen der anderen zu zerstören.

Zusätzlich zu Burgbelagerungen in vollem Umfang mit Katapulten, Belagerungstürmen, Rammböcken und mehr werden auf dem Höhepunkt der Schlacht die kataklysmischen Götzen freigeschaltet. Sie stehen für mächtige Magie wie einen gewaltigen Meteoritenregen, einen gigantischen Tornado oder einen 4-sitzigen Roboter, die alle in der Lage sind, den Verlauf der Schlacht zu verändern oder den Sieg zu sichern.
