Milestone’s Development & Creative Director, Michele Caletti, and Executive Producer & Associate Creative Director, Andrea Basilio, open the video by reflecting on the legacy of the original Screamer series. They state the ambition to reimagine its trailblazing spirit for a new generation of players, crafting a fresh arcade racing experience with a deep storyline seamlessly woven into the gameplay. This vision takes shape with Screamer Game Director Federico Cardini, who introduces the game’s innovative twin-stick driving and the Echo System, a special feature that blends on-track action and narrative. Drawing inspiration from fighting games, he also points out how each character will come with dedicated skills, adding an extra layer of challenge to each race.

Narrative Designer Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm then presents the world of Screamer, a dystopian future setting where five teams and fifteen racers collide in stories of revenge, grief, trauma, and personal redemption, all tightly interwoven through character-driven storytelling. The narrative framework has strongly influenced the design of vehicles, environments, and characters, as explained by Art Director Federico Mattioli, while Annis Naeem, Director of the LA-based design studio Plumehead, delves into the creative process behind Screamer’s unique car designs.

The anime-inspired soul of Screamer is conveyed through the words of Daisuke Shimamura, Animation Director at Polygon Pictures, who oversaw the production of animated cutscenes designed to enrich each character’s emotional arc and elevate the game’s narrative impact.

Capturing the emotional complexity of two of the story’s main characters was a key challenge for renowned actors Troy Baker and Aleks Le. As they reflect on their experience bringing Mr. A and Hiroshi to life, Baker highlights the significance of playing a video game villain for the first time in his career, while Le shares how he was able to explore a new perspective on the hero archetype.

Scheduled for release in 2026, Screamer will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
